NSHAHS Does Their Part In Rallying For Gilad’s Release

On October 5th, some of our students were involved in a special program to benefit former-captive Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.  Over forty of our students joined hundreds of others from around the country in a video link with Gilad's parents.  The thirty minute program consisted of Divrei Chizuk from such notable individuals as Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks and Elie Wiesel as well as a joint recitation of Tehillim.

This was an important and serious program that brought home the Shalit family plight and our responsibility as Jews living in the Diaspora. It also allowed our students to feel part of a communal response to this unfortunate and unacceptable situation impacting on one of our Jewish brethren.

We at NSHAHS join with all other Jews in giving thanks to God in light of Gilad’s recent release from captivity.

Daniel Goldsmith Named as Siemens Math:Science:Technology Competition Semi-Finalist

Daniel Goldsmith with Director of Research, Allen Sachs
Daniel Goldsmith has been named as a semi-finalist in the prestigious Siemens Math:Science:Technology Competition. Daniel’s selection places him in the top 10% of Siemens’ entrants, and NSHAHS is one of only 3 Yeshivot with winners. Daniel’s project was: “A Novel Search for Topological Charge Fluctuations in the Quark Gluon Plasma.”  He conducted his research work at Stony Brook University, this past summer, under the mentorship of Dr. Roy A. Lacey.  Daniel provided a new, successful method of analyzing a novel property in a newly found state of matter called the Quark Gluon Plasma.
