NSHAHS Students & Faculty March For Israel

North Shore Hebrew Academy High School’s Israeli Day Parade banner depicts the necessity for “Strong Roots of Faith” that helped to create the “Miracle” that is Israel. A sheltering palm evolves from the barren desert. The tree grants shade for the “State of Israel” which rose once again, as firmly rooted plants do, from the desert floor.

North Shore Hebrew Academy is like the story depicted here. Our school’s roots, firmly planted in faith, nurturing, branching out, inclusive, and sheltering students in the beliefs we all hold so dear. We are proud to show all our branches of faith as illustrated on our Tee Shirt logos and represented by the timeless branched menorah whose flames brightly blaze!

9th Grade Scientific Research Class Delivers Superb Performance at Gildor Competition

The Gildor Family Projects and Inventions Competition was launched in 2000 by the Israel Center for Excelllence through Education.  The US became involved several years ago through the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education funded by the Gruss Foundation.  Each year an engineering  project is announced in October.  Students work all year to research, design,  develop and test their solution to the problem.  This year, the problem was to develop a device to keep birds away from airfields and agricultural fields.  Also sponsoring the competition this yuear was the International Center for Bird Migration Research at Latrun and the Israeli Air Force.  Winners of the semi-finals go to Israel for the Finals at the end of June.

We are very proud of the solution, pictured above, designed by our 9th grade North Shore Hebrew Academy Scientific Research class.  Team work, electrical circuits, systems, programming, writing scientific papers are just a few of the skills learned by this year's class.  Although our team did not win, their performance was superb and both Mr. Sachs and Mrs. Serfaty are extremely proud of their accomplishment.

Siblings Earn Medals At Al Kalfus LI Math Fair

The Al Kalfus Long Island Math Fair is an academic competition where students are given the opportunity to present mathematical research in written paper format, as well as through oral presentations, to a qualified panel of judges in the discipline.  Each year North Shore Hebrew Academy High School students participate in this competition.

This year Ali Paul (10th Grade) presented her research on parametric equations and their applications.  Her paper entitled Parametric Equations and Methods in Modeling, earned her a prestigious Gold Medal in the competition.  This is Ali’s second medal in the competition as she also received a Gold Medal as a freshman in last year’s competition.

Ryan Paul (9th Grade) also presented research in the year’s Math Fair in the area of polar and spherical coordinates and their applications.  His paper entitled Polar and Spherical Coordinates and Their Applications presented an in-depth look at the mathematics behind GPS Systems and mappings.  Ryan received a Bronze Medal for his research on a very elevated topic in the competition.
